How many pictures is the Nikon D5000 good for, any tips for the new camera

Posted by admin on January 12, 2012 in Cameras

Question by Cowboy is How many pictures is the Nikon D5000 good for, any tips for the new camera?

I just bought the new Nikon d5000 , I am wondering how many pictures would this camera be able to take over its life before the internal parts start to ware down.I did spend the 200 extra for the 4 year warranty.
Also does anybody have any good info or tips I could use with my new camera?
Best answer by Dude

The shutter is the primary moving part that is subject to wear. Most shutters these days are rated for 100,000 actuations, and there are plenty of people who have used cameras well beyond that. While the technology may be considered obsolete in only a year or two, the camera itself should last a very long time.
Sorry to maybe burst your bubble here… But Nikon have put a recall out on the Nikon D5000 with certain serial numbers on the bottom due to a malfunction I have had to take 2 D5000′s back ….

Indications of this issue include:
1.The camera cannot be operated when the power switch is on, even with a fully-charged battery.
2.The camera cannot be operated with the EH-5a AC Adapter connected through the EP-5 Power Connector and the power switch on.

Here is link for you to check if your D5000 is affected..

I have went back to using Olypmus again. got the E-620 which in my opinion i think is better..

As the other answerer said, the thing that’s most likely to fail in a camera is the shutter.

As long as you don’t abuse it, it’s possible to get up to 100,000 shots, but it’s not guaranteed. 40,000 is a more reasonable estimate.

Okay, first off- don’t listen to the idiot who thinks this camera doesn’t totally kick ***. They don’t know how to take full advantage of this canon masterpiece.

It comes in several colors, it’s small, sleek, sexy, lightweight, 10MP! (which is plenty enough. trust me. any higher and you’re just throwing your money away), long battery life (I went to italy for a month and snapped over 200 pictures before it showed low battery), takes awesome pictures (so sharp-even with motion, and looks even better on your computer), and it’s easy to use. Comon, WHY ARE YOU STILL READING THIS?! BUY ONE ALREADY!

For people who aren’t intersted in switching modes for everything, It’s as simple as this… Use the Auto mode (The small button, pushed to the top) when its very dark and you need a flash, like in a bar/club or outside patio Yatzee! tournament(hey whatever floats your boat). Use the Manual mode (The small button, centered) when it’s in the afternoon, like at a soccer game or something, and you don’t want a flash. That’s it. Now if you want to take advantage of all the modes this camera has to offer…. READ THE BLOODY MANUAL.

Don’t complain that this canon1200 hasn’t impressed you over your outdated canon110 when the truth is- YOU DONT KNOW HOW TO USE ONE!

FINAL THOUGHT: Buy this camera for your daughter, sister, mother, friend, wife- WHOEVER. Just get it while the price is nice and low. As soon as an undisclosed number of these are sold- The price will jump high. Most likely into the 250s or low 300s. Think I’m lying? Look at the prior models. They cost almost a third more than this one. It will surely jump in price, and you don’t want to be the one guy that was like, man, i should have listened to that kid and bought one while it was so low. SO BUY IT NOW.

Canon PowerShot SD1200IS
10.0-megapixel resolution captures enough detail for prints up to 13 x 19 inches
3x optical zoom; 2.5-inch PureColor LCD II screen
DIGIC 4 Image Processor with evolved Face Detection Technology; Face Detection Self-timer
Smart AUTO intelligently selects the proper settings
Compatible with SD/SDHC, MMC/MMC Plus/HC MMC Plus

I need a new digital camera for the new year. What are the best? ?

Posted by admin on January 4, 2012 in Cameras

Question by Nerdgirl is I need a new digital camera for the new year. What are the best? ?

Are there any good ones out there that are cheaper or are they all really expensive?
Any ideas would be great for a make of camera or camera.

Best answer by Shey

Just saw this camera at Best Buy and think it is a great camera and a best buy. It has an optical viewfinder, image stabilizer, auto focus, and uses NiMH rechargeable batteries. Read as much of the following as you can for other information and help with choosing a camera.
Canon A590IS $129.99 at Staples yesterday.
http://bountii.com/deal-1523871-canon-po… …

There is no one particular place to get great buys, but you may see something above that really helps you find the best buy. Click on the link in the information above for an example then search for your camera of choice at the upper left. Camera prices at this link change often.

While most of the cameras out there are really good, I would choose Canon over Nikon because it seems like more camera for the money. Some would say Canon withholds their best technology for high end cameras and Nikon implements their best at all levels. Before you decide, read all the text and links in the information below because it will help you know what to look for in a camera.

There are so many cameras out there it is difficult to say which is best, but digital is definitely the way to go. The second source link will be very helpful as it list most of the cameras out there with prices. The following information should help you know what to look for in a camera.

What gives a camera its picture quality?
The short answer is that it is mostly the skill of the photographer that produces high quality pictures. The lens and camera are very important, but the ability to set the scene, adjust the cameras settings, and hold the camera very still or use a tripod with auto or remote shutter actuation when required is what gets the great pictures.

In new cameras, look for optical viewfinders (LCD invisible in bright sun) and check battery prices. High mega pixel settings take longer to process and may not be needed unless required for very large pictures or enlarging small parts of big pictures. Maximum print size for a 3 mega pixel setting is 8 x 10 inches. Click links below for more details.

Check this more for the money camera. FUJIFILM – FinePix 10.0-Megapixel Digital.
Life time Warranty (Parts & Labor).

Wide-angle shooting, a 12x optical zoom and picture stabilization mode combine in this camera for exceptional shooting performance, even at a distance. Plentiful scene modes, autofocus and automatic white balance controls make this camera a snap to operate. You may be able to find it on the Internet for a lower price.

The information about my camera is just to show that you don’t need the biggest and best. Just know how to use the one you have.

My camera has 5.2 mega pixel, but I use 3 most of the time because it gives great results, is faster, and takes less memory. Also, it only has a 3 x optical zoom and 7 x digital zoom. I never use the digital zoom because making pictures larger works better on the computer. This is an old camera, but everyone is impressed with the quality pictures it takes … like magic.

Check with the Geeks in several stores and compare prices. Ask what cameras they own, but don’t believe everything you hear. Once you select a camera read all about it in the owner’s manual. Just learned that my camera has red-eye prevention and correction. It also has adaptive lighting. You may be able to view owners manuals at this link, but will need to Login. http://www.beltal.com/buy-wholesale-electronics-c2.html

The source links will show most of the cameras out there with prices and help make your digital cameras work better.

What do you think for camera Nikon p100 ?

Posted by admin on January 2, 2012 in Nikon Cameras

Question by Melly is What do you think for camera Nikon p100 ?

I like to take pictures and i am passionately in love with photography and now day i like to buy new camera ,i think that will be Nikon P100 !Anybody know something about that tip of camera?

Best answer by omg

After reeceiving Nikon Coolpix P100 and tring it out i think it is an excellent choice. The camera does exactly what it is supposed to do very well. The colours are vivid and the contrast is excellent; too much contrast makes you feel the picture is unreal it has the right contrast for me. The functions of the camera makes awsome pictures even for the novice. I feel that the camera auto adjust colour hue sometimes. The zoom is quik,to quick in my opinion but you can get used to it. The zoom is a little hard to adjust manualy “the camera does not have an optical view finder it has an electronic one” that is why it is alittle hard to zoom manually but you can get around this issue after using the camera for few times. As in some preview, the video is very nice and sharp even in low light conditions. The built in flash is a good feature. I like the charging battery type camera, some people don’t, but i am used to this type of batteries and i can get a spare one over here with a additional car and home charger and all will be set. The 8GB memory card can save over than 3000 pictures on normal mode.
Overall the camera performs wonderfuly.
A camera is a tool, and the photographer has to get involved with his tool; you get to know your camera after few times and you could tell how the pictures will come out even before your attempt to take the picture on this camera. I think it is a good choice, the next choice will be a good, i mean very good DSLR camera.

What is the BEST Nikon DSLR camera and lens currently available?

Posted by admin on December 30, 2011 in Cameras

Question by Mask is What is the BEST Nikon DSLR camera and lens currently available?

I want to buy my boyfriend, for his birthday, the most top of the line DSLR camera, from Nikon (they are his favorite). He is an extremely experienced and amazing photographer. I, however, know nothing of the subject. I do not know about the shutter speed, aperture, pixels, etc… Can you please help me? Price is not an issue, I just want to know the best camera Nikon offers (D7000? D5100?), and the best lens as well (I know even less about lenses…).

Best answer by B.E.I

Since money is no object…A Nikon D3x at $7,999.95. The lens would depend on what he is shooting.

For example, there is a:

600mm lens, great for nature for $10,300 or a
70-200 f/2.8 lens great for a lot of things for $2,199 ( I use the Canon equivalent for everything from portraits to wildlife to sports).

The thing to remember is that photography gear is mostly personal preference. My wife refuses to buy me camera gear because of it (she will buy anything else for me including a gun, but not photography stuff).

I would suggest that instead of buying him a camera and lenses, that you take him to lunch and then stop by the local camera shop (maybe blindfold him on the way there). Then say “Happy B-day…you can spend up to $xxxx”. He will be delighted and like a kid in a candy store.

Yup. Above posters are correct. The best Nikon on the market is the Nikon D3X. As for lenses, there isn’t really any way to say what the best is. It depends too much on what he wants to shoot, and how he uses his camera. What might be my first choice for a lens is probably not what his first choice would be. If you want to take a shot in the dark at it, though, you could try to go for a NIKON AF-S 24-70 F2.8 G ED. It’s a high-quality lens with a focal range that covers an area that most photographers tend to take most of their shots in.

Whats a better digital camera Canon and Nikon for a photographer?

Posted by admin on December 28, 2011 in Cameras

Question by Stokrs  is Whats a better digital camera Canon and Nikon for a photographer?

Hello everyone im in a bit of a delema, im wanting to take up photograpy and m not sure which camera brand to get whether it’s Nikon or Canon i’ve heard of canon alot but lots of people tell me to get nikon please help.

Best answer by Fphote

Go into a camera store that sells both. Then, hold both in your hands … practice using them.

* Which is the easiest for you to use?
* Which menu is the easiest for you to navigate and make crucial changes while shooting.
* Which do you find the easiest to adjust aperture and shutter speeds while looking through the viewfinder … without having to remove your eye from the it. (Action and sports photographers need this feature)

Lens choice really depends upon the type photography you tend to shoot. You will need to buy what you want at the time of purchase.

For most, the “dual dial” aperture/shutter speed feature on the Nikon’s and the fit of the camera in the photographers hand sells the camera.

And to take it a step further since you are about to spend a lot of money on a professional piece of camera equipment, “rent” the camera for a day [from samys.com, calumet.com] and take it on a trial shoot. That way, you will have no doubts as to whether or not you will have selected the very best camera for your needs. As a reminder, did you know that the majority of professional photographers do not “own” their cameras, since there is ever changing technology which simply makes today’s cameras obsolete. They often “lease” or “rent” professional equipment in order to seek out different cameras to fulfill their photo assignments.

What are the negative things about buying a Sony Cybershot camera?

Posted by admin on December 26, 2011 in Ask Camera

Question by HJ is What are the negative things about buying a Sony Cybershot camera?
I really, really, really want a Sony camera especially a black T700 for my coming birthday but it seems like my dad doesn’t agree. He’ll buy me something alright, but just not a Sony camera. He says the memory card can’t be used in any other than a Sony product and they are costly. Is he right? Should I just choose another camera brand? If so, any suggestions?

Best answer by Rajue

If you are a serious photo enthusiast then T700 may not fit your requirements. As your dad says, go for some semi-pro models like Canon S5 or higher.

If you are just a point and shoot type who like no bells and whistles, T700 will suffice. But remember small cameras are cute and compact, but they have some downside too. Technically small cameras use smaller sensors which results in average quality of photos. The bigger the sensors, the better the quality.

And yes, Memory stick cannot be used in any other cameras. It’s a Sony proprietary format and costly too.

Concluding, the choice is based on whether ou are a photo enthusiast or a casual shooter. :-)

I’d suggest one of Canon’s excellent ultra compact, SD models instead. They have better image quality and I’m sure you will not be disappointed if you owned one of these very popular models.

They use SD or SDHC cards (most compact cameras use this type of card, except for Olympus, Fujifilm and Sony, of course).

Have a look at the SD 1100 IS (Ixus 80). It’s available in several colours (except black) and it costs around half of what the T700 does (that would be enough to make your Dad smile).

What kind of a camera should I buy if I want to get into glamour photography?

Posted by admin on December 23, 2011 in Cameras

Question by Oracle is What kind of a camera should I buy if I want to get into glamour photography?

I am a novice when it comes to all the features on a professional camera, but I feel like I am ready to graduate from the standard point and shoot cameras. I need a camera with all the features necessary for glamour photography, but simple enough to use and understand for a first timer. Specific cameras I should buy in stores would be appreciated.
Best answer by Eletronis
First off, you need to learn all you can about a camera-Reciprocity, focal length, film speed, etc.
When you get to a certain point, look for a camera that fits you. Look for a camera that is in your price range, but has all the features you want. Think about where you will be in a year, when using that camera. A good camera to start off would be the Nikon D40x, D80, the Pentax K10d, or the Canon DR XTi. All these cameras are excellent cameras, and have a short learning curve. Higher up models include the Nikon D200, the Canon 5D, or the 30D. Sigma has the SD 14, and Fuji has the new S5 Pro.
Some store to try would be, Wolfes.com, or B&HPhoto.com. Both are online, and have many yaers of exprience.
Another thing to keep in mind is that the lenses make the camera. Don’t go out, and buy a $90 18-55mm lens, and expect to get superb shots. Think about a lens that is high in quality. A lens like that, might run you $500+, and sometimes are twice as much as the camera itself. There are however “Prime” lenses. Most of the time they are a 50mm 1.8. These are inexpensive-$120-and very good for just walking around with. The only problem, is that on most DSLR cameras, the 50mm will actually be the equivalent to a 75mm lens on a film camera, due to the conversion.
In the end, look for a camera that feels right to you.

What is a good camera to buy if want really clear pics and good zoom?

Posted by admin on December 21, 2011 in Cameras

Question by Thor145 is What is a good camera to buy if want really clear pics and good zoom?

I went to a Taylor Swift concert and I took pictures with my camera, which is just a plane simple digital camera, and they didn’t turn out that great. I want a really nice camera but not too expensive and I want to take really clear pictures. I don’t know that much about cameras so can someone help me please and thankyou. A link would be cool too.
Best answer by Laura

Well if your want to just get a digitcal compact camera i would suggest panasonic lumix dmc sz3 which is around $290 on amazon. It has a 12X optical zoom which is good for a smaller camera. I take it to concerts all the time and get pretty good shots.
You can’t get a good quality picture without spending a lot of money on equipment. The more expensive the equipment is most likely to have the better quality. One thing you can do is get to learn your camera so that you know all of the different features to get the best picture.
Zooming in is not always the best thing to do for quality pictures, you want to get macro shots which means close up pictures but when you zoom in things get harder to focus on because you have little stability to keep the camera from moving. Also you need to have good lighting, if it is really dark in a concert or something then you would most likely get bad pictures because there would be no light to capture then image.

I would suggest getting like a Canon or something they are called, but they can be more expensive than others.

Good digital camera for a teenager at Christmas ?

Posted by admin on December 19, 2011 in Cameras

Question by Mae is Good digital camera for a teenager at Christmas ?

I want a digital camera for Christmas because mine broke. what are some good cameras. I want one that is small, takes pictures fast and has good zoom.
Best answer by AMPhoto
Whats good zoom? The Canon XS110 and XS10 have 18x zoom, most cameras have 4x or maybe 6x zoom. The Canon SD models are good cameras, the best being the SD 950 (990 is not worth the extra money), and the worst is probably the SD1100, but its also really cheap and simple if thats what you are looking for. The Olympus stylus SW1050 is waterproof, shockproof, dustproof, and cold proof if you think you might take advantage of any of those features. Nikon also has their Coolpix line which is popular, the S series are mid range and the P series are higher range. All in all, if you spend between 200-300 on a Nikon or Canon point and shoot you cant go wrong. Stay away from really cheap brands like HP.
Sony cyber shot seems to be the best I don’t own one I have a canon XTI which is a good size bigger. I have a friend who has one and if you take your time and practice you can take pictures almost as good as the canon. If I bought a small camera it would defiantly be the one.
i want one too for xmasss. i want the canon powershot. its sooooooo nice and takes amazing pictures its kindof expensive tho but its sooo worth it.
